Friends of the Library

Since 1975 the Friends of the North Adams Public Library have helped establish a closer relationship between the library and the public.  In the past the group has done this through funding programs and special purchases.  One of our best accomplishments has been raising the funds to complete the third floor of the Houghton Memorial Building, providing meeting room space for public use, a kitchenette, staff room, literacy offices, and a Special Collection work room.

In 2013 we have provided funds to supplement the book account cut by the budget; purchased four chairs for the Main sitting room; purchased shelving units and magazine holders for the new Media room; secured passes for Berkshire County museums and attractions available to all card holders, and funded several children programs.  Our main source of income continues to be the Annual Membership Drive and our Annual Book Sale.

Please support these if you can by either volunteering to help with the sale, donating baked goods or purchasing books for your home library.  Meetings are held March through June and August through November on the last Monday of the month at 3:30 in the Community meeting room.  All are welcome.

2016 Meeting Schedule
The Friends customarily meet on the last Monday of the month at 3:30 p.m. In the summer months the often break in July and in the winter, they usually skip December, January, and February, resuming in March to plan for the book sale. All are welcome to the Annual December meeting with date and time to be annnounced.
