This site is designed to become a jumping-off point for persons doing local history or genealogy research in or near North Adams, Massachusetts. It is a collaborative effort of the North Adams Historical Society, North Adams Public Library, and Freel Library at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, formerly North Adams State College. We urge you to visit each individual institution's site for additional information about their holdlings, policies and hours.

The first phase of this multi-year project is to build a database of our photographic holdings. We have completed Part I of this project: The postcard holdings of all three institutions. We hope you will find it helpful. Within a few months we expect to add other formats of photographs and images to this database.
