What a wonderful gift to our community. Thank you Haiyan and Guy for performing the tea ceremony, playing beautiful music on the guzheng, and showing us how tai chi can be integrated into both rituals.

Author and educator Richard Markham

These must be the “interesting times” mentioned in that old Chinese curse.  Dick Markham’s slender book, Beyond Extremism, hatred and violence: toward a more peaceful world, offers us a road map through our bewildering civic journey. Please join us in the main living room of the library on Monday evening, October 22 at 6 p.m. to talk with the author about his thesis and how we might tap a deeper energy to correct our course. Refreshments and copies of Markham’s book will be available.

Dick Markham is a retired history teacher, former library trustee, and well-respected elder statesman. His book is a timely voice for reasoned, meditative action in our fevered times.
