The North Adams Public Library is pleased to partner with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the North Adams Historical Society on a “History Harvest” project scheduled for November 3, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library. The project, funded by a grant from the Mass Humanities, will result in a number of databases and learning tools to help students and community members understand the rich and complex history of our City.
To gather as much information as possible, we are asking community members to go through their old papers, photographs, and other family keepsakes and bring these to the library on “harvest day” for students and volunteers to digitize or record. In addition to print matter and photos, citizens are encouraged to share their memories of our changing community. Remember Thursday night shopping? Did you come downtown to be outfitted before school began? What were the best eating spots in town? No memory is too small to be gathered and catalogued.
If you would like to volunteer for this great event, please contact Dr. Ely Janis at 662-5342 or Mindy Hackner at 662-3133.
